parabéns faixa preta

A Huge Congratulations to My Coach Scott Ramsay from Checkmat South Shields for Receiving His well earned & well deserved Black Belt, whilst away on a BJJ training Holiday in Rio De Janeiro Last week.
Scott started training BJJ in 2001 at Master Team under Rodger Brooking which was part of The Vieira Brother Team Romero 'Jacare' Cavalacanti. After Roger Brooking retired Scott trained under Rodrigo Cabral & Eduardo Ferreira at Brasa until Purple belt.

When the Vieira Brothers Branched off and started up the Number 1 team in the World 'Checkmat', Scott went on to train under The head of Checkmat UK & Europe Chico Mendes who is now based in Cheltenham UK.

After travelling to Brazil for the fourth time in January 2011, Scott received his brown belt by the man himself, 9x world champion Ricardo Vieira.
Since then, Scott has gone on to Head the North east's affiliation to Checkmat, Checkmat South shields, fighting out of South Shields Fight Factory

After visiting Ricardo Vieiras club 'Fight Zone' again In February 2013 Scott went on to receive his Black belt from the main man himself, Ricardo Vieira in front of a group of Team Mates From his Home Club.

This is a great achievement for Scott to have earned his Black belt, only a chosen few have had the honour of receiving theirs in the UK and let alone have the honour of receiving it in the birth place of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu - Rio De Janeiro.

I have only been training 2 & 1/2 years now and I'm a Blue belt, i am willing to put in the hard work that it takes to get your Black belt so I am definitely looking forward to the next however many years it takes me to get there, i just hope my journey is just as exciting as my Coaches was.

Blood, sweat & determination goes into the time put in on the mats over those years to get to the point of getting a black belt, so this isnt the end, its only just the begining. :)
